Department of Biochemistry
The department was founded in 1927 in the same year when the college of medicine was established .
The mission of the department is to teach undergraduate medical student (first and second year), the biochemical reaction and all changes that may occure inside the human body, which provide an insight for the diagnostic purposes of different diseases. The studies include both theoretical and practical parts in the field of clinical biochemistry.
It is the worth mentioning that the mission of the department also include postgraduate studies. About 75 MSc and 30 PhD students graduated from the department since 1984 supervised by a highly qualified teaching staff, in addition, a variety of lectures and research projects in the field of clinical biochemistry for post graduate students as for the Iraqi board students.
